Why Huai Khwang needed an authentic Indian restaurant

Huai Khwang sits in a strange Bangkok gap. It is dense with hotels, condos, and businesses — Grand Mercure, Lancaster, Avani, Holiday Inn, plus office towers along Asoke-Dindaeng and the MRT line — yet for years the area had no genuinely authentic Indian restaurant within walking distance. Diners had to taxi to Sukhumvit or Sathorn, where Indian options were either hotel-grade-expensive or cloud-kitchen-mediocre.

We opened in early 2024 specifically to fill that gap. Our chef from Uttarakhand cooks the full North Indian repertoire — butter chicken, biryani, tandoori, dal makhani, paneer dishes — from a real charcoal tandoor at 480°C. Fresh-ground masalas every morning. Paneer set in-house daily. No pre-made pastes.

Getting to us in Huai Khwang

BHARAT is on the south side of New Phetchaburi Road, in the stretch between Phetchaburi MRT and the Bangchak gas station. Easy to find by any of these reference points:

• From Phetchaburi MRT (Blue Line): 5 minutes walk. Exit 4, then walk east along New Phetchaburi Rd. You will see Grand Mercure Atrium first — we are 2 minutes further on the same side.
• From Sutthisan MRT: 8 minutes by taxi or motorbike (฿40-60).
• From Asoke BTS: 5-7 minutes by taxi (฿60-80) — straight up Asoke-Dindaeng to New Phetchaburi.
• From Grand Mercure Bangkok Atrium: 2 minutes walk — exit lobby, turn right, walk ~180 meters.
• From Lancaster Hotel Bangkok: ~3 minutes walk on the same road.
• By car / Grab: use destination "BHARAT Flavours Of India, 2055 New Phetchaburi Road" — there is free parking at the Bangchak gas station next door.

The dining room

30-40 seats in a single ground-floor room. Two seating styles:

• Standard tables — for diners who prefer chairs.
• Dastarkhan corner — traditional Indian floor seating with cushions and a low communal table, plus its own screen for cricket and music. Indian families and groups often prefer this corner.

Soft warm lighting throughout. A bar serving Singha, Chang, Heineken, plus wine and cocktails. A TV usually showing cricket (IPL season turns the room into something special).
