Questions and answers
Is BHARAT halal?
We are halal-friendly, not formally halal-certified. To be straight with you: the restaurant itself does not currently hold a CICOT certificate (the Central Islamic Council of Thailand restaurant-level certification). What we do is source halal-marked products: fresh chicken, mutton, fish and vegetables come daily from Makro, and the brands we buy most often — CP Foods and Betagro — carry the green halal logo on their packaging. No pork is used in our kitchen, no alcohol is used in cooking. Full detail on our halal policy page or halal Indian food in Bangkok landing.
Do you have vegetarian and Jain options?
Yes. We have over 50 vegetarian dishes — paneer specialties, dal, vegetable curries, saag, kofta, biryani vegetable variations. Our paneer is made fresh in-house every morning. For Jain diners, most dishes can be prepared without onion or garlic on request — just mention it when ordering. Ghee is used in some preparations; ask for oil substitution if you are vegan. What are your hours?
We are open every day from 12:00 PM (noon) to 12:00 AM (midnight). Last orders are taken about 30 minutes before closing. We are closed only on rare holidays (we will post on Google Business Profile in advance). All channels on the contact page.
Where exactly are you located?
We are at 2055 New Phetchaburi Road, Bang Kapi, Huai Khwang, Bangkok 10310. From Grand Mercure Bangkok Atrium we are a 2-minute walk — walking directions on our Grand Mercure page. From Lancaster Hotel Bangkok, 3 minutes. From Phetchaburi MRT station, about 5 minutes on foot. Neighbourhood overview: Indian food in Huai Khwang.
Is there parking?
Yes — free parking at the Bangchak gas station right next door. They kindly allow our diners to park without any fees. Just walk over after parking. There is no need to ask anyone — it is understood by the gas station staff.
Do I need to make a reservation?
For lunch and weekday dinners — usually no. Walk-ins are fine. For Friday/Saturday dinners (after 7 PM) and any group of 6+, we strongly recommend booking. Reserve a table here or WhatsApp us at +66 97 923 7281. Bigger occasion? See private events.
How do I order delivery?
GrabFood, LINE MAN and foodpanda all deliver from us across central Bangkok — Huai Khwang, Phetchaburi, Din Daeng, Sukhumvit, Asok, Phrom Phong, Bang Kapi, Rama 9, and surrounding areas. Direct links and full coverage on the Indian food delivery in Bangkok page. You can also call us directly at +66 97 923 7281 for direct delivery in our immediate area.
How spicy is your food?
Default spice levels are calibrated for a balanced, medium kick — not "Bangkok-style mild" but not "challenge-level hot" either. We can adjust spice on any dish. Just tell your server "mild" or "extra spicy" when ordering. Our chef will rebuild the dish accordingly.
What are your most popular dishes?
Butter Chicken (the Delhi-style makhani version), Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani, Paneer Butter Masala (vegetarian), Tandoori Chicken (full or half), Garlic Naan, and Dal Makhani are our top six. First-time visitors usually go for the Butter Chicken + Garlic Naan combo. See the best Indian food in Bangkok page for the full overview.
Why does the biryani take so long?
Our biryani is dum-cooked from raw on order. Aged Punjabi basmati and marinated bone-in halal goat (or chicken) layered in a heavy pot, sealed, and slow-cooked on low flame so the steam pressure (dum) does the cooking — usually 35-45 minutes. We do not pre-cook in batches and reheat, because that loses the aroma and rice-grain separation that define real biryani. Full detail on our best biryani in Bangkok page.
Is your tandoor a real charcoal one?
Yes — a real charcoal-fired clay tandoor at 480°C. Most Bangkok Indian restaurants use gas convection tandoors because they are easier to permit, but gas tandoors do not produce the smoke that makes tandoori chicken, kebabs, and naan taste the way they should. Read our long-form post on charcoal vs gas tandoors.
Is the paneer really made in-house?
Yes — set every morning in our kitchen from full-fat milk delivered fresh that day. Lemon juice, three hours of pressing, cubed before service. Not vacuum-packed blocks from a supplier. The texture and milk taste are unmistakably different.
Do you serve alcohol?
Yes. We have a full bar — Singha, Chang, Heineken, Asahi on draft, plus a small wine list and standard cocktails. We also serve mocktails, fresh lassi (sweet, salted, mango, rose), and masala chai.
Do you cater for events / private parties?
Yes — birthdays, corporate dinners, family functions, small weddings. We can do buffet style on-site via private events, off-site catering, or private chef for very small functions. Contact us at info@bharatflavours.com or call +66 97 923 7281 for a quote.
Is the food authentic North Indian?
Our chef is from Uttarakhand in northern India and trained in Indian kitchens before moving to Bangkok — read his profile on our chefs page. Recipes come from family kitchens, not from a chain. We grind masalas fresh every morning. We make paneer in-house. Our tandoor is a real charcoal-fired clay oven (not gas convection). Our biryani is dum-cooked from raw, not pre-cooked. So: yes, by every definition we know how to apply, the food is authentic. See also our North Indian food in Bangkok page.
Do kids eat here?
Plenty of families do. We have mild butter chicken, plain naan, dal, and vegetable rice that work well for children. Bring an appetite for sweet lassi (most kids love ours).
Are you wheelchair accessible?
The dining room has a step-free entrance from the sidewalk. We have a single-floor layout with no internal steps. Restroom doorway is standard width. Call ahead if you have specific accessibility requirements and we will make sure everything is set up for you.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes — Visa, Mastercard, JCB. We also accept PromptPay (Thai mobile transfer), cash (THB), and most mobile banking apps. Tipping is not expected but appreciated.
Can you accommodate food allergies?
Yes — please tell your server when ordering. We can prepare nut-free, gluten-free (most curries are naturally gluten-free; bread and some snacks contain wheat), dairy-free (vegan-friendly versions of most curries by substituting oil for ghee and skipping cream), and seafood-free meals. Cross-contamination prevention: we use separate utensils and pans for severe allergy orders if requested.
Is the music too loud?
No — we keep the volume low. The TV (usually cricket) is muted unless someone asks for sound. Background music is soft Indian classical or light Bollywood instrumentals. You can have a normal conversation at every table.
Do you have a kids menu?
Not a separate menu, but we do half portions of butter chicken, plain rice, plain naan, and mild dal for ฿80–฿120. Most kids do well with these. Sweet lassi is the universal kid favorite.
Can I bring my own cake for a birthday?
Yes — please. No cakeage fee. Tell us in advance and we will bring it out at the right moment with a candle if you want.
Are dogs allowed?
Service dogs are always welcome. Pet dogs — we love dogs but cannot allow them in the dining room due to Bangkok food safety regulations. Outdoor turf seating is being prepared and will be pet-friendly when it opens.
Still have a question?
Easiest way is WhatsApp — we usually reply within 10 minutes during open hours. Or reserve a table directly and ask in person.
