Notes from the kitchen — Snacks & Chaat
A few things worth knowing. Our masalas are ground fresh each morning — we do not use pre-made curry pastes. Halal-friendly across the board, with halal-marked supplier ingredients sourced daily from Makro (CP Foods, Betagro). The restaurant itself is not formally CICOT-certified — we are halal-friendly rather than halal-certified, and we want you to know that. Most dishes can be adjusted for spice (mild, medium or hot) on request. The dining room seats 30-40 in two styles — standard tables plus a traditional Dastarkhan-style floor corner with its own screen for cricket and music. Two minutes walk from Grand Mercure Bangkok Atrium and Lancaster Hotel; free parking at the Bangchak gas station next door (they kindly allow our diners to park without any fees).
Frequently Asked Questions about Snacks & Chaat
How many Snacks & Chaat dishes do you serve?
There are 10 Snacks & Chaat items on the menu, listed below. Each is cooked to order, with masala ground fresh in our kitchen every morning. Halal across the board.
Are your Snacks & Chaat dishes made the traditional way?
Our chef trained in India before moving to Bangkok — from Uttarakhand, with experience cooking the full North Indian repertoire. Recipes come from family kitchens, not from a restaurant chain manual. We do not use pre-made curry pastes or food colouring. The Kashmiri red colour in dishes like rogan josh comes from deggi mirch, not paste; the dark colour in chana comes from tea bags during cooking, not caramel.
Is the meat in the Snacks & Chaat section halal?
BHARAT is halal-friendly, not formally CICOT-certified at the restaurant level. Our fresh chicken, mutton and produce come daily from Makro from halal-marked product lines — most often CP Foods and Betagro. The green halal logo is on the supplier packaging. No pork in the kitchen, no cooking alcohol. Happy to show you the supplier packaging on request so you can verify the halal markings.
