If you're staying around Asoke BTS — Sukhumvit Soi 21, Sukhumvit Soi 23, the Marriott Marquis Queen's Park area, or any of the office towers on Asoke Road — there are five Indian restaurant categories worth knowing about. Each suits a different occasion, budget, and craving. Here's how to choose.
This is written by the team at BHARAT Flavours Of India. We're one of the options. We'll be honest about what we're best at and what other places do better.
1. The hotel restaurant — for high-end and reliable
Several hotels around Asoke have their own Indian restaurants or in-house Indian sections. These are typically ฿800-1500+ per person, beautifully presented, with professional service and an extensive wine list. The food is competent — hotel-grade Indian, calibrated for international palates. Cardamom-forward, mild, very polished.
Choose this if: you're entertaining a client, hosting an anniversary, or want a guaranteed reliable evening with no surprises. You're paying for the room, the service, the polish.
Skip this if: you want authentic regional Indian cooking with rough edges and depth. Hotel restaurants smooth everything out.
2. The cloud-kitchen brand — for delivery only
Several "Indian restaurant brands" in Bangkok now operate primarily as cloud kitchens — order via GrabFood or LINE MAN, get delivery in 30 minutes. ฿200-400 per portion. The kitchens are usually shared facilities producing food for multiple brand names.
The cooking is typically from pre-made pastes (the volume requires it). Convenient, fast, affordable. The food is decent if you don't have anything to compare it to.
Choose this if: you want Indian food delivered to your hotel room or condo in 30 minutes and you don't want to think about it.
Skip this if: you want a meal cooked specifically for you, with the time and ingredients that requires.
3. The Sukhumvit casual Indian — for quick lunch
A handful of casual Indian restaurants line Sukhumvit between Asoke and Phrom Phong. Most are small, lunch-busy, dinner-quieter. ฿250-450 per person. Mixed menus — North Indian, some South Indian, often a few Indo-Chinese items. Service is fast, atmosphere is functional. Many are reasonably priced because the Sukhumvit foot traffic supports lunchtime volume.
Choose this if: you want quick weekday lunch within walking distance of the office, you're not picky about authenticity, and you want to be in and out in 45 minutes.
Skip this if: you want dinner with friends in a room that feels designed for evening dining.
4. BHARAT Flavours Of India — for authentic North Indian
That's us. We're at 2055 New Phetchaburi Road in Huai Khwang — 5-7 minutes by taxi from Asoke BTS (฿60-80), or 12-15 minutes walking through Soi 23. We're not technically on Sukhumvit — we're on the parallel road two streets north — but we're closer than diners realise.
What we do specifically:
- North Indian only — Punjabi gravies, Mughlai mains, tandoor section, dum biryani, fresh paneer dishes. Over 200 items, all one cuisine. More about our North Indian focus →
- Real charcoal tandoor — not gas. The smoke shows up in every tandoori dish. Charcoal vs gas →
- Fresh-ground masala every morning — no pre-made pastes.
- In-house paneer set daily — full-fat milk, three hours of pressing.
- Dum biryani from raw — 35-45 minute wait per order. Our biryani →
- Halal-friendly — halal-marked CP / Betagro chicken from Makro daily, no pork, no cooking alcohol. Halal page →
- 30-40 seat dining room with standard tables plus a Dastarkhan floor-seating corner with cushions.
- 5★ on Google with growing reviews.
- ฿250-450 per person for a proper sit-down dinner.
Choose us if: you specifically want authentic, slow-cooked North Indian food, you're staying in the Huai Khwang / Asoke / Phetchaburi area, and the 5-minute taxi from Asoke BTS is not a barrier.
Skip us if: you specifically want South Indian (dosa, idli) or Indo-Chinese — that's not our menu.
5. The expensive fine-dining Indian — for special occasions
Bangkok has 2-3 Indian fine-dining restaurants in the Sukhumvit / Sathorn / Silom corridors that serve modern, refined Indian cuisine for ฿1500-3000+ per person. Modern technique, premium ingredients, deconstructed plating. The food is beautiful and excellent — when it works, it's some of the best Indian dining in the city.
Choose this if: it's a milestone birthday, anniversary, or you have a guest visiting Bangkok who wants the upscale Indian experience.
Skip this if: you want comforting, traditional cooking that doesn't try to reinterpret everything. Fine dining sometimes loses the soul of the original dish in pursuit of presentation.
How to actually pick
