Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is included in the Veg Thali?

While items rotate daily, it typically includes one dal, a paneer dish, a seasonal dry veg, rice, roti/naan, raita, papad, and a sweet.

Can two people share one thali?

Thalis are generally designed as a filling meal for one person, though light eaters might be able to share.

Is the food in the thali refillable?

Our Veg Thali is served as a thick single-person portion rather than an unlimited refill format. If you would like a second helping of any item— dal, sabzi, rice, or roti— just ask your server and we will bring it to the table.

Are there vegan options for the thali?

You can request a vegan thali, which would omit the paneer, yogurt, and ghee-brushed breads.

Why is the thali served on a round metal plate?

It is a traditional Indian way of serving meals, utilizing small bowls(katoris) to keep the various wet and dry dishes separate.

About Veg Thali

A thali is the traditional Indian way of serving a complete, balanced meal: instead of a single dish, a whole composed platter arrives at once, with several preparations portioned into small bowls (katoris) set around a round metal tray. The idea is variety in one sitting, a little of everything rather than a lot of one thing, so the meal moves between textures, temperatures and flavours from the first bite to the last.

At BHARAT Flavours Of India our Veg Thali brings together a lentil dal, a paneer or seasonal vegetable gravy, a dry sabzi, steamed rice, freshly made bread off the tawa, raita, a little salad, a papad and a sweet to finish. The exact line-up rotates day to day so the kitchen works with what is freshest, but the shape of the meal stays the same. Our masalas are ground fresh rather than pre-mixed, the paneer is set in-house daily, the curd for the raita is set in our own kitchen, and the breads are rolled and cooked to order. The cooking is overseen by our chef from Uttarakhand, who keeps the seasoning the way it is done in North Indian homes.

Served as a generous single portion, it is designed to fill one person comfortably and to feel like a proper sit-down meal rather than a snack. If you would like a second helping of dal, sabzi, rice or roti, you only have to ask. For the range of dishes on the tray, it is genuinely good value for a full meal.
